Land Acknowledgment

COSTI acknowledges its presence on the traditional territory of many Indigenous Nations. As a member of the COSTI community, I recognize that many Indigenous Nations have longstanding relationships with the territories upon which COSTI’s offices are located, that precede the establishment of COSTI as an organization. COSTI acknowledges its presence on the traditional territory of many Indigenous Nations. The area known as Tkaronto (teh-ka-ronto), which is on Treaty 13 and Williams Treaty Territory, has been care taken by the Anishinabek (nish-naw-bek) Nation, the Haudenosaunee (ho-dee-no-sho-nee) Confederacy, and the Huron-Wendat. It is now home to many First Nations, Inuit (ee- nu- eet) and Métis (may- tee) peoples from across Turtle Island. We acknowledge the current treaty holders, the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. This territory is subject of the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement to peaceably share and care for the Great Lakes region.
COSTI is committed to doing its part to help achieve the 94 calls to action outlined in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report. By engaging in honest conversations in our own circles, and the communities that we serve, we aim to support a journey and commitment to reconciliation.
